A VERY SHORT TRIBUTE TO DR KAIRAT DUISSENOV PARMAN

 

A Very Short Tribute to Dr Kairat Duissenov Parman

There's nothing like the unexpected passing away of a longtime friend to make us painfully aware of just how real the corona virus called Covid-19, is. I refer to the death of Dr Kairat Duissenov Parman.

I first noticed Dr Parman when he was featured as a World Poet at Pentasi B. As I was very active in my admin duties, he had sent me not one, but two friend requests: One account was in the Anglicized form of his name, the other, in the Kazakh alphabet. For a while, he liked my posts and invited me to become a member of his new group, the World Writers' Union.

Dr Epitacio Tongohan's list of 33 foreign delegates--it was an honor to be included--to the India World Poetree Festival held in Hyderabad's Ramoji Film City included both Dr Parman and me. However, both of us were unable to attend the said Festival. I don't know about him, but in my case, I consoled myself that there would be other Festivals. I didn't know that in his case, such hope would now be gone forever.

After 2017, I became busy with other groups, while Dr Parman's group grew exponentially. I witnessed the growth in its membership and the honors that were bestowed upon its active members..Dr Parman's energy and enthusiasm were, to me, unbelievable. From a virtually unknown group, WWNU became a force to reckon with in the field of literature, esp. poetry. And all of this were due to Dr Parman. Unlike other groups which were occasionally marked by controversy, his group, as far as I know, was never marred by infighting or complaints against its founder. In a field that is rife with possible minefields, Dr. Parman kept his group and literary persona respectable, something that is an achievement in the age of social media.

Now that he's gone, whatever the future has in store for the group he founded, the fact remains that Dr Parman not only continued the centuries-old tradition of Kazakh poetry and epics: he also leaves an indelible legacy of modern poetry not only in his native Kazakhstan but in the world, and all in the space of a mere 4 years. Definitely, his passing leaves a void in world literature, and not just because of the poetry he wrote and encouraged, but in his singular achievement of making Kazakh literature in English recognized and known outside its national boundaries.

Un homenaje muy breve al Dr. Kairat Duissenov Parman

No hay nada como el fallecimiento inesperado de un viejo amigo para hacernos conscientes de cuán real es el virus corona llamado Covid-19. Me refiero a la muerte del Dr. Kairat Duissenov Parman.

Noté por primera vez al Dr. Parman cuando apareció como un poeta mundial en Pentasi B. Como yo era muy activo en mis deberes administrativos, me había enviado no una, sino dos solicitudes de amistad: una cuenta estaba en la forma anglicanizada de su nombre, el otro, en el alfabeto kazajo. Durante un tiempo, le gustaron mis publicaciones y me invitó a ser miembro de su nuevo grupo, la Unión Mundial de Escritores.

La lista del Dr. Epitacio Tongohan de 33 delegados extranjeros - fue un honor ser incluido - al Festival Mundial de Poetas de India que se llevó a cabo en la Ciudad de Cine Ramoji de Hyderabad nos incluyó tanto al Dr. Parman como a mí. Sin embargo, ninguno de los dos pudimos asistir a dicho Festival. No sé de él, pero en mi caso, me consolé de que habría otras Fiestas. No sabía que en su caso, esa esperanza ahora se habría ido para siempre.

Después de 2017, comencé a estar ocupado con otros grupos, mientras que el grupo del Dr. Parman crecía exponencialmente. Fui testigo del aumento de sus miembros y de los honores que se otorgaron a sus miembros activos. La energía y el entusiasmo del Dr. Parman fueron, para mí, increíbles. De un grupo prácticamente desconocido, WWNU se convirtió en una fuerza a tener en cuenta en el campo de la literatura, especialmente. poesía. Y todo esto se debió al Dr. Parman. A diferencia de otros grupos que en ocasiones estuvieron marcados por controversias, su grupo, hasta donde yo sé, nunca se vio empañado por luchas internas o quejas contra su fundador. En un campo plagado de posibles campos minados, el Dr. Parman mantuvo respetables a su grupo y a su personalidad literaria, algo que es un logro en la era de las redes sociales.

Ahora que se ha ido, sea lo que sea lo que depare el futuro para el grupo que fundó, el hecho es que el Dr. Parman no solo continuó la tradición centenaria de la poesía y la epopeya kazaja: también deja un legado imborrable de la poesía moderna no solo en su Kazajstán nativo pero en el mundo, y todo en el espacio de apenas 4 años. Definitivamente, su fallecimiento deja un vacío en la literatura mundial, y no solo por la poesía que escribió y alentó, sino por su singular logro de hacer que la literatura kazaja en inglés sea reconocida y conocida fuera de sus fronteras nacionales.
