... AND LIFE STEPS OUT ALMOST STRAIGHT

When lights put away
even fittest grope a little
sometimes unsettle for sometime
and sometimes hit a wall
so directly on the brows
and sometimes on nose,
but if it continues
happening all days
nearly so always,
either darkness leaps
two steps backwards
or something in the sight
leans respecting that
steely resolve
and that beautiful
unflinching insight
and sometimes adjusts itself
to that testing midnight
and slowly and steadily
this becomes the trait
and thus life steps out
walks almost straight.
